Hi, I'm Keanu Hoi
I am an animation filmmaker, animation lecturer and PhD candidate researching previsualisation. My introduction to animation began as a child when I recieved alternative dyslexia treatment, which involved modelling hundreds of clay dioramas that told stories about the words I struggled to read and write. This led me to make claymations with the same clay used in the treatment. Later I attended the Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney, where I began to blend my love for both animation and live-action filmmaking. My work has premiered on Adult Swim (USA), MUBI, CineQuest (California), St Kilda Film Festival, Melbourne International Animation Festival, Revelation Perth International Film Festival, Sydney Fringe Festival and Soft Centre (Australia) & Cinanima (Portugal), among others.
